Alone in the Dark 360

It has been out for a while, but I feel that I need to express my opinion on a game that means a lot to me. As a kid I played all the classic PC Alone in the Dark games where you played the role of the super detective of the paranormal Edward Carnby. I loved the games so much and I was terrified of the very first game. I even dressed up as Carnby for Halloween.

But past experiences aside, and completely avoiding the topic of The New Nightmare (which I have never had any desire to play). I went into Alone in the Dark expecting so much, knowing that this was the Carnby from the old games.

It's really cool but fairly un original but unexpected on how Carnby managed to survive for so long and retain his youth. The fighting system is very intense and with a limited inventory it can be very difficult to manage without have to retry a level.

The way they tell the story and the music makes the game really take off. Plenty of "Dear God" moments and of course the "This Sucks" moments. A slew of puzzles, which is what made Alone in the Dark what it was back in the day.

So basically the game has its ups and downs, despite what everyone says, I love this game. Beat it and enjoyed it. Unfortunately I wasn't a big fan of the ending, but don't let that ruin the experience. It's great, and worth a good a rent just to see what I'm talking about.

8/10
